Besides "House of Leaves", I read this book (Elegant Universe) non-stop while making "Haunted". Science books are one of my greatest guilty pleasures. I've sought help for this problem, but it seems I can't be cured. Anyone else suffer from this ailment?

Ummm...yeah...it's the movie quote game again. For the new kids, if you know what movie any of the quotes listed below is from, name it and replace that quote with one of your own. This goes on until we all get stuck, which usually takes a couple weeks. I'm keeping them fairly simple for now. 1. "I didn't lose my job. It's not like, whoops, where'd my job go? I quit!" 2. " I'll tell you what he said. He asked me to forcibly insert the Life Line exercise card into my anus" 3. "This is a really shiit idea! You know why? Because this is CLEARLY a really shiit idea!" 4. "He verlassen Mädchen, ein…

Zen and the power of Poe Alright, I know this is going to slide me firmly into the ranks of the “Oh him? Pay no attention, he’s crazy” ranks, but I have a metaphysic angle on why Poe affects us all so much. Having been something of a music junky for my 34+ years I have heard music from most every culture on Earth, and music from every genre of American expression. Poe is unique. No other artist has ever affected me on that level, but… something has. I am something of a theologist, and metaphysisist and I have attended ceremonies from Christian holidays, Pagan holidays, and variations that go from Pentecostal to Druidic candle rites. Each of them seems to call to the …

Hey guys and gals, I know that there are a ton of psychos here in TX. Hopefully Poe will be touring sooner rather than later.. I am hoping that she will schedule a number of TX dates to cover our huge state! I plan on going to all the shows here in TX (maybe a few out of state, who knows).. If anyone is interested in road tripping we should hook up and make some plans whenever we know when our mistress will be touring. I live in corpus but i am in san antonio and austin enough to claim residency. It would be great if we could all hang out one day and share our poe stories. Especially if this peter max thing works out!! That way we will all be well aquai…

Although Shakespeare was married---she was 8 years older and pregnant---had a daughter, then twins....there was gossip. The writing style of such rubbish has certainly changed over the last 400 years >> Upon a time when Burbage played Richard III there was a citizen grew so far in liking with him that before she went from the play she appointed him to come that night unto her by the name of Richard the Third. Shakespeare, overhearing their conclusion, went before, was entertained, and at his game ere Burbage came. Then, message being brought that Richard the Third was at the door, Shakespeare caused return to be made that William the Conqueror was before Richard …

God, today he said that he didn't care what other people in America thought about his choices because he's the one in control making them... Who sounds like a tyrant now?

Well, I've noticed a lot of peeps on this board (including myself) seem to be down sometimes, so I figured, "Hey, why don't people make with the funny?" So, because I really need some good ones because I am running dry, and for the amusement of everyone else, post your favorite little crack-em-ups, jokes...riddles...whatever...here Oh, and if there is a jokes thread somewhere and I just haven't seen it, please forgive my inner cretin. I'll start: One day, a little boy wrote to Santa Clause, "Please send me a sister." Santa Clause wrote him back, "Ok, send me your mother." What do you call an Alabama farmer with a sheep …

http://www.salon.com/audio/2000/10/05/danielewski/ Click on that link to find some House of Leaves and Haunted MP3's and an article about the book. Years ago, when "House of Leaves" was first being passed around, it was nothing more than a badly bundled heap of paper, parts of which would occasionally surface on the Internet. No one could have anticipated the small but devoted following this terrifying story would soon command. Starting with an odd assortment of marginalized youth -- musicians, tattoo artists, programmers, strippers, environmentalists, and adrenaline junkies -- the book eventually made its way into the hands of older generations, who not …

Full circle... round and round we go, Hello? When I think of things "full circle" I most often think of Poe. "Hello" started it all, lyrics that WERE sweet music to a computer geeks ears, yet my lover was more fond of THJ and Johnny... it didn't take me long to love each cut on the "Hello" CD, with it's power to touch so many buttons... I am certain, that I have spent more time, pondering how Poe gained the knowledge of the things she sings about, than their meaning... and I come "full circle" to the thought, that it takes one to know one.... Now, here we are, poised to hear the sounds that are certain to draw new listene…

Apollo's Linkpool Global Linkpool My friend Mark created a great way to share links. It's called Linkpool, and is essentially a collection of links that anyone can add to. It's very easy to add to your own website, and will give you hours of entertainment. My own version is shown only on my site, but his is viewed by hundreds daily on dozens of sites.

I have always been obsessed with Parapsychology. Or realy the Paranormal. I grew up in a Haunted house and things were always weird here. I'm still here to this day actually, but things have been quiet this year (except for a broken antique clock working again, after the clockwork was removed). I guess that's why I enjoyed the House of leaves so much. Anyone got any haunted tales? I love ghost stories! Dan

These fractals are not only beautiful, they are fascinating. I don't really understand the math, but I think it has something to do with imaginary numbers. http://aleph0.clarku.edu/~djoyce/julia/MandelbrotApplet.html http://www.artmatrix.com/
