Category: ANGRY PSYCHOS I used to not understand this song. Then one day it hit me that it's about a guy who performs oral sex badly. Now it seems obvious. Is this obvious to everyone? Just curious.

Category: ANGRY PSYCHOS Every couple of years, just when I think I'm over Poe, something happens which pulls me back in. This time, it was Pandora. "Hey," I thought, "that sounds kinda like Poe." After another minute: "Correction...that sounds A LOT like Poe!" I went over to my player and saw Conjure One on the display. It was Center of the Sun. I knew of the project, but had never heard it, for some reason. Over to Wikipedia to see if there was any new news. I knew all about the Atlantic Records travesty, but any time something triggers another Poe kick, I check back in hopes of finding new and happy news. And this time I found a little "teaser" video! Maybe, ju…

That Danielewski blood... Not to completely date my self here, but I've been a Poe fan since what seems like infancy. Even long before those foggy angst-laden memories of yore, there was Poe. In school I'd relish the hallway trips where my cassette of "Hello" would repeat through my walk-man headphones. Thereafter, I'd rejoice in reading aloud in English, where Poe's namesake would fill my eager brain with his brooding resplendence of mystery. "Who would like to read the first page of The Raven"? My hand shot enthusiastically into the air time after time. Thusly, solidifying myself as the resident (and only) literature enthusiast in the small town that I moved to by way …

1995, 2000 two CDs 5 years. Really want more, liked Hello, the title track, wrote a local LA station and they listened, played title track a few times. Was in Illinois when I got Haunted, listened to it while wife was Christmas shopping at Macy's in Bloomington. Had a new Eels cd as well "Daisies of the Galaxy", with "I Like Birds" but apparently it was 2001,my Ford '99 ZX2 had no CD, my 2002 Concord did. '96, '98, 2000 for Eels Hope to see, buy, hear more. Please! I enjoy what I have, "Hey Pretty" in both versions. But have enjoyed Hooverphonic more, more good albums, '97, 98, 2000, 2003, 2004, 2005, and after a lull, Geike, 2011 another singer I liked hearing, o…

A couple of months ago, my father died of a quick and rare cancer. I drove home from the hospital numb, and my 13 year old autistic son texted me, "Play 'If You Were Here.' It will make you feel better." I played it, pulled over and had a good cry, and did feel better. Thank you Poe for making me feel better for 15 years.
