November 19, 200322 yr Many of you have e-mailed me, asking about all the songs that were recorded, during the making of "Haunted" (Songs that didn't ultimately end up on that CD)Yes they exist, but chances are, they won't be a part of this next album. Sadly, the fact that those songs were recorded while I was still under contract to Fishkin/Atlantic, means that they may not mine to release. This is heartbreaking to me in a way, but it's not the end of the world. No worries. I have lots of new songs! I hope that eventually something can be worked out so that you can hear all of that stuff, but for now I will have to leave that music alone. The current album is in production. It's a full on gorilla production, and I'm liking the effect that that has on the music. Hopefully you can hear something very soon...in the mean time...thanks for hanging in there. YOU RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
November 20, 200322 yr Is this album going to be produced in the same manner as your previous works, i.e. via the Mac?Is your band going to be part of the production, or are you "recruiting" musicians the way you did last time?I'm still 'amazed' that you could produce such a kick ass album with basically free talent. I wish I could play an instrument (and lived in LA) so I could try to help out.Best of luck (although you don't need it) and I can't wait to hear a taste.
November 20, 200322 yr I'd love to see Poe work with Cameron Stone again. Any chance that might happen?
November 20, 200322 yr oooh exciting. I don't know how you do it, but you do! Can we expect any type of concept album? Any cool new surprises? (Do I even need to ask?)
November 21, 200322 yr Here is a bit of Simpsons dialouge to express how I feel:Moe: This thing can flash fry a buffalo in 30 seconds.Homer: 30 seconds? Ooooh, but I want it now!

November 21, 200322 yr Oh that's pretty sad... Can someone at least write the lyrics ?? You know, Poe is the best songwriter out there, your songs are just too good, and you're voice is just so power. But we must be happy !!! I want to give you all my support, and of like 3 fans that I've made on my town ... Hehe... And if you got empty of ideas... Take careeeeee!! Luck!!!

November 21, 200322 yr It's not even finished being recorded, but I bet somebody's already selling it on ebay. That site worries me sometimes.
November 21, 200322 yr I know that when Abra Moore was signed to Arista Records, they decided at the last minute to put off her new album for even longer, after they'd been putting it off for years, and they told her that while she had the copyright on her own work (which, legally, everyone does with their own work), they owned all the production rights, and so she wasn't allowed to sell it, or make a profit off of it. So here's Abra Moore, with all these copies of her new album, her new material that she'd busted her ass to create, and no one would ever get to buy it, because of a legal technicality. When you were on the radio this evening (I think it was the Edge, but it could have been Mix 102.9, or even KISS FM, because I wasn't checking, but it was a Dallas station, nonetheless), you talked about how there were contracts that forbade people from singing their own material for seven years, and how you felt edgy when you'd sing Angry Johnny in the shower... and all of this made me think of Abra Moore, and about the guerilla artists movement. What Abra did, to get to release the music she worked so hard on, and to make some sort of living off of it, was this: at Austin City Limits Music Festival last year (and at the rest of her tour dates, I would presume), she sold t-shirts, and you'd get the album free with the purchase of the shirt, so she wasn't technically making any money off of it (though tons of people wanted her new work, so she did, in non-technical terms), and it was a convenient loophole in the wording of her contract. I don't know if that will be of any help to you, but I thought that I'd offer it just the same.Coincidentally, I remember what it was like when one of my favorite bands was only playing 21+ shows, and how much I hated it, so I have to back up everyone else who suggests all ages shows. Personally, though, I'd also suggest you play several smaller venues, rather than one large one, and if you really wanted to take the time and energy, you could play more than one night per town, in smaller arenas so that it would be more personal, and you could have more time to spend with the fans, and they with you.
November 21, 200322 yr I love the T shirt idea. That rocks! My boyfriend almost got roped into a contract with a minor company (very very very minor) that stated that he wouldn't get paid a single dime until 200 copies of his CD were sold, the company would have the right to use his material for any other artist they wished, and he'd have to pay a deposit to them to be featured on their website.I told him he would be paying them to take his songs and give them to another "artist" they thought was more "marketable" (ie. generic) and since his songs would be performed by someone else, nobody would ever buy his CDs and he'd never see a dime, as well as losing the right to market his own music. He just stared at me until it sunk in. He's bilingual, but not that bilingual, and the contract was in English. They should outlaw fine print.
November 21, 200322 yr to quote Poe in Fly Away... "am I going to get sued for saying that?" LOL just thought that was appropriate.
November 21, 200322 yr When I read Poe's post under this topic (welcome back!) an eerie parallel entered my mind. When Haunted originally debuted, I remember reading an interview about a documentary Tad D. filmed in Spain that is still under lock and key and cannot be removed from the country. And now the same thing seems to be happening with the unreleased material from Haunted! I truly hope that someday we can experience both of these. Just as Haunted and HOL were complementary works of art, perhaps someday the documentary and the missing songs will find their freedom together.Viva la Repoe revolution,Michele
November 21, 200322 yr My first post on the new board, yay! I know nothing about your contract, but FIGHT THE MAN! The same thing happened with Danzig back in the day. As it stands, his former record company owns the rights to only the released material. So maybe you can get the songs back that didn't get officially released? Either way, will be awaiting your new CD..
November 21, 200322 yr were the unreleased songs recorded as if they were going to be released, or would there be some way to get around losing control of them? eh-i guess it's better to look forward to new things, since they're falling into place all around this site it seems. it must be such a hassle to be a musician. i write songs and all, but i've never done anything with them. hhmm
November 21, 200322 yr QUOTE (doxiegrl1 @ Nov 21 2003, 02:53 PM)Can the songs be accidentally leaked to your psychos somehow? Yes, this accident pleases me... there must be someone out there that could infiltrate. If the Paris Hilton video can get out, why not the unrealeased POE? I have decided that I cannot wait another moment for new music! I am holding my breath.... ....getting faint..... *thud*-Beau
November 22, 200322 yr I can't wait to hear the new music POE. It's so great to see an artist grow!!!
November 22, 200322 yr Yes, an accident.Poe could slip and fall and accidently post all the songs on the website for the world at large to hear.It would have to be a pretty slippery floor, but it could happen.
November 22, 200322 yr ::glides along the floor:: take your shoes off or you'll leave markssome people did that with some unreleased madonna songs a while back, so i'm sure Poe could get away with it

Oh wow, I haven't heard anything from Abra Moore in a long time! I definitely like the idea of all age shows and smaller venues. Especially the smaller venues since I'm 25 so age restictions don't affect me, but I sympathize with those it does. Also because I remember how awesome it was to see you when you played at the Cotton Club in Atlanta. So please, please, please keep Atlanta in your thoughts when it comes time to tour again (whenever that may be). Can't wait to hear the new stuff! Slán go fóill,~Derek
